Stripes and decals

Lines that follow
the car.

Bonnet and roof stripes, side graphics, blackouts and one-off decals. Set out on the car first, so the lines follow the panels instead of fighting them.

A stripe looks simple and it is the easiest thing on this list to get wrong. A car is not a flat surface: a bonnet crowns, a roof curves, and a line that measures correct at both ends can still read crooked in the middle.

So the layout happens on the car. The lines get set out, stood back from and adjusted before anything is committed, because the eye decides whether a stripe is straight, not the tape measure.

What you can have

From a single line to the whole panel.

  • Racing stripes

Over the bonnet, roof and boot. Single, twin or offset, in any colour and finish, including the same colour as the car in a different gloss.

  • Side graphics

Body lines, rockers and quarter panel work, cut to follow the shape already in the metal.

  • Blackouts

Bonnets, roofs and pillars in a flat block of colour. The fastest way to break up a large panel.

  • Custom decals

Names, numbers, sponsor panels and one-off artwork, printed or cut.

The work

How it goes

Laid out before it is laid on.

  1. 01

    Set out on the car

Lines positioned on the actual panels and checked by eye from a distance, not measured off an edge and hoped for.

  2. 02

    Cut

Cast vinyl cut to the design, in the finish you picked.

  3. 03

    Lay

Installed panel by panel, heated into the crown and the curves.

  4. 04

    Edge and heat

Wrapped past the panel edge where there is one to wrap, then post-heated so nothing pulls back.

Questions we get asked.

Will the stripes damage the paint under them?

No. They come off cleanly and the paint underneath is as it was, which is the argument for vinyl over painted stripes.

Can I have the same colour as the car?

Yes, and it is one of the better looking versions - a satin stripe on a gloss car in the same colour reads as shape rather than decoration.

Do you design them, or do I bring a design?

Either. Most people arrive with a rough idea and we set it out on the car until it looks right.

How long does it take?

Most stripe jobs are a couple of days. A simple bonnet blackout can be done in hours.
